 Liver transplant Services:

Dept. of Hepatobiliary pancreatic Surgery take care of the end stage Liver disease (Cirrhotic) Patients. Provide pretransplant & post-transplant patient care.

Pretransplant care: Select those (recipient) needing Liver transplant. Prepare, perform   Imaging and other tests. and treat the comorbidities. Performs donor selection & preparations.

Many end stage liver disease patients under gone successful liver transplants in home and abroad after evaluation and counseling by the team of Hepatobiliary pancreatic Surgery services of BRB Hospitals ltd.

Post transplant care: Provide care and manage complications of post-transplant patients, who received transplantation in home and abroad.

 Training & development of manpower:

Continuous Hepatobiliary pancreatic Surgery services of many years ( 26 yrs) under the guidance of Prof. Mohammad Ali, the chief Hepatobiliary pancreatic Surgeon have led to the development of many trained Hepatobiliary pancreatic  surgeons of Bangladesh. They are working in this institute independently and also providing Hepatobiliary Pancreatic surgery services of other academic institutes in different categories including head of the Departments.

o   Sports Rehabilitation: Offering physiotherapy services for sprains, strains, impingement, fractures in order to prevent injury and performance recovery and provide return-to-sport programs.

o   Pre and Post-Operative Rehabilitation:  Structured rehabilitation following orthopedic and other surgical procedures such as joint replacement surgery, rotator cuff repairs, ACL reconstruction, spinal surgeries etc.

o   Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy: Rehabilitation for respiratory and cardiac conditions and post-hospitalized complications such as COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis, pneumonia, post-COVID recovery, spinal and major abdominal surgeries etc. We are offering finest and state of the art chest physiotherapy services in ICU, HDU, Neuro-ICU, PICU, NICU, Post-Operative unit and also for the patients admitted in the hospital.

o   Gait Analysis & Rehabilitation: Assessment and management of walking and movement abnormalities.

o   Pediatric Physiotherapy: Pediatric physiotherapy helps to treat or develop neurodevelopment issues (e.g. Developmental Delay, Cerebral palsy, Spina Bifida, developmental coordination disorders etc.) in infants and young children and enhances a child's developmental stages.            C. Serological (Immunohematology) Test Services:

·         Department equipped with fully automated Solid Phase Method (Immucor Echo) and semi-automated Column Agglutination Technology (Orth workstation) analyzer using which will help in solving complex immune-hematological problems which may arise either due to previous pregnancy, transfusion or transplantation as well as autoimmune diseases.

      D. Transfusion Transmitted Infection (TTI) Screening Laboratory:

Fully automated 4th generation Chemiluminscence Assay (Vitros 3600) for mandatory tests i.e. HIV 1&2, p24 antigen, HBsAg and HCV.

        The therapeutic use of apheresis technology is done to remove disease causing substances or blood components and providing supportive and therapeutic solutions using state of the art apheresis equipment. We are involved in advances in transfusion medicine.

        F.   Blood Donor Eligibility

1.       The blood donor must be in good physical and mental health.  

2.       Every four month, an individual can donate blood.

3.       In case of Apheretic platelet, blood donor can donate every 15 days.

4.       A blood donor can donate Apheretic platelets one month after donating whole blood.

5.       Age of blood donor should be between 18 to 60 years.

6.       The donor must weigh at least 50 kg or 60 kg in the case of an Apheretic platelet donor.

7.       Body temperature must be below 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit.

8.       Without medication, blood pressure readings: Diastolic 60 to 100 mm Hg, Systolic 100 to 180 mm Hg.  

9.       Minimum Hemoglobin level (12.5 g/100 ml for men, 11.5 g/100 ml for women)

    Platelet counts range from 1,50,000 to 4,50,000/?L (Apheretic Platelet and Platelet Concentrate Donation)

10.   No respiratory illnesses are anticipated.

11.   There will not be any skin conditions

12.   No contagious illnesses (such as Malaria, HIV/AIDS, Syphilis, Hepatitis B, or Hepatitis C) will exist.

13.   There will not be any puncture or scar marks on hand or arms after professional blood donation or medicine injection.
